The greatest reward and luxury of travel is to be able to experience everyday things as if for the first time, to be in a position in which almost nothing is so familiar it is taken for granted.” — Bill Bryson

Willene L. – WackyTrunk© has been a long time dream of mine ever since I was raising my two daughters by myself on a tight budget. I made a commitment to share what I learned on my journey with other parents struggling to do the best they could for their children. In addition WackyTrunk allows me to pass on my hard won knowledge and it does more by providing a place where the wisdom of all our members can be passed on, too. It’s like meeting other moms and dads in the park, sitting on a bench, and trading tips while watching your youngsters have fun on the playground. In addition, WackyTrunk connects you with resources that will help you along your way. Most teachers tell us that the number one thing that moms and dads can do to help their children’s education is to read with them every day.
WackyTrunk makes this important activity a pleasure for the entire family. Our Reading Nook includes links to free books available online and tips on how to get the most out of your trips to local public libraries. Of course, we don’t know everything. That’s why we ask for your comments about the information provided on WackyTrunk. We want to hear from you. We’re building a community and I invite you to join us by subscribing here. Thanks for visiting WackyTrunk. I hope you come back soon. Willene Leffall – Founder
Laureen G. – When my good friend Willene asked me to join Wackytrunk, I jumped at the chance. We both strive to be good stewards of our planet. We share a sense of responsibility to advocate for and help the less fortunate. And, like Cyndi Lauper said, we girls just want to have fun. I’m childless so don’t expect any parenting tips from me, but since I have extended family I have a dog in the hunt. I was a writer and editor for the Tulsa World daily newspaper before spending more than 10 years with the City of Tulsa where I had many roles including Recycling Coordinator. I’m using my reporting skills putting together the Product Recalls and Safety Alerts section. I also serve as Wackytrunk’s Content Manager, making sure what we write is interesting and easy to read and understand. Please let us know how we’re doing. Laureen Gibson Gilroy – Content Manager
Special Thanks to Jason Young for the outstanding work he did on our logo! Jason is a University of Tulsa, Graphic Art major.
